Manchester United legend Gary Neville has voiced his concerns that Manchester United are falling behind their rivals in the summer transfer window.
Following a lacklustre season, Manchester United’s need for a serious rebuild was clear to most. Yet, with several clubs already announcing summer signings, United have still been limited to enquiries and opening bids.
This has caught the eye of United legend Gary Neville who has taken to his social media accounts to raise his unease at United’s current lack of business.

The severity of United’s inability to secure any new signings so far this season has been best shown by the success of their rivals. Of the ‘Big Six’, four have announced summer signings already, with only United and the until recently financially stricken Chelsea not bringing in any new names as of right now.
Manchester City and Liverpool have announced big money buys in Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez respectively. The former cost approximately £51million, with the latter somewhere in the region of £80million.
Other ‘Big Six’ sides such as Spurs have signed several players, such as Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster. With it also being reported that former United target Yves Bissouma is undergoing his medicals ahead of a move to Spurs. Arsenal meanwhile have already started their summer spending spree, bringing in young forward Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.

It has also been heavily reported that Chelsea are in the market for multiple players, whereas Manchester City are looking at Brighton’s Marc Cucurella as both teams aim to further strengthen their sides.
United on the other hand have seen a push back on several players. Their chase for Ajax stars Jurrien Timber & Antony has faced complications, whereas their pursuit of Frenkie De Jong has seemingly stalled.
This worries Neville, who wrote on his Twitter account, “I know early in the window but it’s worrying that United are struggling to get business done.”
“The others seem set and ready yet United can’t get moving. ETH needs his group together asap to mould them.”

“Bringing them in late will only make it harder for him! [fingers crossed] it happens soon!”
The former Manchester United captain saw plenty of players come and go in his time, and has not shied away from criticising the current situation at the club.

However, he has also voiced his sympathy for new Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag, remarking back in April that he, “Wouldn't be putting pressure on Ten Hag in the first two or three years to win a Premier League title. They're a million miles away from that currently.”
Manchester United’s pre-season will star in just twelve days, ahead of their first match in this year’s Premier League against Brighton on the 7th August.
