Aaron Wan-Bissaka Set For Last Chance At Manchester United Under Erik Ten Hag

The right-back has a lifeline under the Dutchman as he's fell out of favour.

Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is determined to prove he has a place at the club, something that has gone down well with new boss Erik ten Hag, according to reports.

After footage emerged earlier this week showing Wan-Bissaka putting in extra hours of private training, reports now are claiming that the right-back is trying his utmost to secure a future at Manchester United.

After seeing his starting position in the United side ripped away by Diogo Dalot for the latter half of last season, it had been previously reported that Wan-Bissaka was seen as surplus to requirements by new boss Ten Hag.

Reports last month named Wan-Bissaka as one of several players Ten Hag was willing to sell, alongside fellow fullback Brandon Williams.

However, following his clear determination to fight for his place in the team, Ten Hag is now reportedly willing to consider Wan-Bissaka’s future at the club.

After being impressed with the defenders attitude, it has now been reported by Alex Crook of TalkSPORT that the new United boss is “likely to give him [Wan-Bissaka] the chance to prove himself in pre-season.”

Wan-Bissaka first joined the club in June of 2019 under then boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, marking the first signing of Solskjaer’s Manchester United managerial tenure.

As of the time of signing, Wan-Bissaka’s £50 million pound transfer placed him as the sixth most expensive defender of all time, a price tag he has unfortunately often failed to live up to.

Despite excelling in his first season with the side defensively, as part of a United team that conceded just 36 Premier League goals, his inability to grow as an attacking player has left many questioning his place in the squad.

In his three seasons with the club, Wan-Bissaka has produced 10 goal contributions in 89 Premier League appearances.

A stat that becomes even less appealing when considering how zero of those contributions came last season, despite his 20 league starts.

If Wan-Bissaka is to remain at United, it looks like it won’t be long till he is joined by a new defender.

Complications surrounding Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia’s transfer to the Manchester side have now been resolved, and it looks like the move will be going ahead.

The Dutch defender was praised by his personal trainer earlier this week for putting, “in a huge effort and is incredibly good at dealing with pressure.”

Alongside Malacia, Manchester United’s interest in Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez is reportedly set to heat up before the end of the week.

The Argentine defender has been heavily reported as a potential transfer target this window for both United, and their Premier League rivals Arsenal
