Lisandro Martinez will be Manchester United's third signing of the summer, after the club have already announced Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia.
The Argentine international has took flight to Manchester with his agent to prepare for his medical with the Old Trafford club ahead of an agreed £46 million move.
Erik ten Hag is a big fan of the defender, who he brought to Ajax from Argentina in 2019, and he will undoubtedly be an important member of the squad going forward.

With personal terms also sorted, all that is left is medical tests and for Martinez to sign on the dotted line before he's unveiled as a United player.
James Ducker of The Telegraph has also lifted the lid on the wages that the player will be on at the club.
He's revealed that Martinez's weekly packet will be just over £120,000-a-week on a five-year contract.

This is a good representation of where United want to move towards. A more well-run wage structure within the squad is crucial.
With Arsenal also showing extreme interest in the player, the United of old would've convinced a move through enforced wages.
But, in this case, it was down to the project and the manager at the club. Similarly, Eriksen relayed a similar message after his signing was confirmed.
"I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day. It is clear that he is a fantastic coach." He told the United website.

"Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future."
In previous years, we've seen United pry the likes of Alexis Sanchez away from a Manchester City move by offering ridiculous wages. The Chilean left the club on a free transfer, following a loan spell, two and a half years after his Old Trafford move.
While these two deals are not properly comparable, with Sanchez being a Premier League star at the time, United fans will hope that the principle will remain with the majority of the club's business going forward.

By being able to offer a genuine project under a world-class manager, United will be able to attract players without flexing wages which lead to long term instability in the squad.
This has led to problems in selling players, as their unnaturally large wages mean that other teams are unwilling to purchase them at a fair price.
We've been seeing the front of this issue in the last two summers, where there have not been enough departures of players who are surplus to requirements.

With Martinez's wages matching his ability and age bracket, there is still space for an improved contract without him being on ridiculous amounts.
Of course, there are still problems in this regard at the club, but this deal makes it seem like they are attempting to address the issue and build a better run operation. This can, in turn, improve the team's long term success on the pitch.
