Manchester United have been advised to change their transfer policy under Erik ten Hag as they look to transform their squad in the summer transfer window.
Former Manchester United player Quinton Fortune has told the club to focus on “humble players” instead of star names as they look to rebuild under new manager Erik ten Hag.
The quotes come after it was revealed that United look set to miss out on Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, with the red devils target now looking set for a switch to arch-rivals Liverpool.

Fortune, a Premier League winner in 2003 with United, has claimed that Erik ten Hag should look for players who can emulate the character of previous title winning squads at Old Trafford, as opposed to players who have better ability.
Fortune said, “It doesn't have to be big names. It's got to be the right characters to fit into the culture of Manchester United. That is the thing to achieve again. It's very important. Not every single player will have to be better to coach, but the humility bit is what has got United so much success.
"Yes, the teams I played in had individual characters. But, when it came down to the team, there was so much humility in what they did and their work in winning the Champions League and championships. Then they just came in ready to work again. So, for me, it's the right characters.”
The former South African international makes this point ahead of what is potentially the biggest summer transfer window for some time at United.

There will be a major overhaul this summer, with players such as Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic all leaving the club on free transfers at the expiry of their contracts.
Additionally, with Ten Hag now in charge, and clarity as to who will manage Manchester United on a permanent basis finally being achieved, clear planning can be made in an attempt to holt the decline of the club situated in the M16 area.
Despite seemingly missing out on Nunez, United still remain interested in and linked to Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong, PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare and Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni, with Erik Ten Hag looking to improve in virtually every area of the pitch.
