Manchester United are taking on Atletico Madrid in their penultimate pre-season friendly of the summer.

The side have faced five teams so far, beating Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Wrexham, and drew against Aston Villa in Perth.

Erik ten Hag was set to play his strongest line-up against Atletico Madrid, with a second string side taking on Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

Just before the line-ups were confirmed, it was revealed that Jadon Sancho is a doubt for the fixture as he is "not fully fit", which led to speculation as to who would start alongside Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in attack.

Speaking on the line-up to MUTV, Ten Hag said: "This is the last test, so we want to get the players to get the minutes in their legs, and of course you want to see a team performance.

"This is a good test because it's a difficult opponent, really tough to play [against], so I am really looking forward to what's [coming] out of this test."

Talking on how much each player will play, Ten Hag revealed, "The majority has to play 90 minutes because that is what you want when you go into the league, so this is the purpose of these two games."

Confirming the news on Jadon Sancho, the Dutchman said: "Overnight he got sick, so he's not available."

He hinted that Martinez and Eriksen may play a part today, but warned that it is nor gaurenteed.

"We will see how our game goes, but we want to get many players with 90 minutes in their legs, and Martinez and Eriksen are not ready for 90 minutes.

"We have to build their fitness level, but they will definitely get game time today or tomorrow, or today and tomorrow."

Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he will play on Sunday against Rayo Vallecano in an Instagram comment on Friday.

Many thought he would not play for the team again, however Ronaldo looks set to feature at Old Trafford at least one more time in his career.

Erik ten Hag's first pre-season as Manchester United manager has gone very well so far, with the side scoring a total of 17 goals across the five matches, and conceding seven.

Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial have been the club's standout performers, with the latter back to his scoring best so far under Ten Hag's guidance as Cristiano Ronaldo looks to leave the club this summer.

Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, the two latest signings for the club, will feature across the two pre-season fixtures this weekend as the Dutch manager wants as many minutes as possible in their legs ahead of what is set to be a long season.

Manchester United are set to face off against Atletico Madrid at 12:45 BST.
