Nate Diaz has told Dana White to RELEASE him from his UFC contract having failed to land a big fight.

Diaz has been strongly linked with a blockbuster showdown against Dustin Poirier, but the promotion have yet to formally announce a bout.

The lack of movement in making Diaz vs. Poirier has angered the Stockton star, whose requested his release from the UFC.

"I Would like to request to be released from the UFC," he wrote, tagging the UFC and White.

He added: "I apologise for asking online but u don't give me a fight asap I got sh*t to do."

Diaz, 36, is on a two-fight losing skid and hasn't won a UFC fight since his victory over Anthony Pettis in August 2019.

He suffered a TKO defeat to Jorge Masvidal in a 'BMF' bout at UFC 244, then dropped a decision to Leon Edwards last June.

Diaz had been hoping to be matched with Poirier, who challenged him on social media.

They've both been calling for the fight, with the UFC failing to deliver.

The veteran American has also exchanged tweets with arch-rival Conor McGregor, hyping up a potential trilogy bout.

What's more, just last week, Diaz also campaigned to get on Bellator's Hawaii card in April - alongside teammate Yancy Medeiros.

He tweeted: "I'm tryin get on this Bellator card in April wit my boy @ymedeiros in Hawaii."

Diaz has fought under the UFC banner since 2007, having won The Ultimate Fighter 5.

He's had 26 fights inside the famed Octagon, beating the likes of McGregor, Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller, among many others.

Will Diaz's next fight be outside of the UFC? Stay tuned.
