Footage of Conor McGregor's being chased by police before his arrest has emerged online.
On Wednesday, it was widely reported that the former two-weight UFC champion was arrested in Dublin for dangerous driving.
Local police issued the following statement to the Irish Independent: "Gardaí arrested a man aged in his 30s in relation to an incident of dangerous driving in the Palmerstown area yesterday evening, Tuesday 22nd March 2022.
"The man was taken to Lucan Garda Station where he was later charged. He has been released pending an appearance before Blanchardstown District Court at a later date."
McGregor was detained by Gardai, the national police of Ireland, between the towns of Lucan and Palmerstown while travelling on the N4.
His Bentley Continental GT, worth £140,000, was temporarily seized before later being returned to the Irish superstar.
And footage of McGregor driving down the motorway moments before his arrest has been shared online.
A fan on Twitter posted a video of him spotting McGregor cruising, shouting "Up the Mac" and then "Are you f****ng s****ing me?" when he hears the police sirens and sees the vehicle tailing him.
McGregor himself retweeted the video, which has just short of 65,000 views on Twitter.
The 33-year-old, the highest-earning athlete in 2021, is slated to appear in front of court next month. He could be facing a £4000 fine and potentially a six-month prison sentence if the maximum punishment is handed out.
Based on the amount he raked in last year, 'the Notorious' could effectively pay that sum in 16 minutes.
He paid a £330 fine in 2017 for speeding in his native Dublin and has committed a number of other driving-related offences.
In total McGregor has 18 convictions, including assault and public order issues.
He has been investigated on suspicion of sexual assault on two occasions but no charges were made in either instance.
McGregor has been training for a return to the UFC and eyeing a welterweight title fight with dominant champion Kamaru Usman.
