Emma Raducanu has confirmed that she has split with coach Francis Roig just days after her Australian Open exit.

Following a dominant two-set win over Thailand's Mananchaya Sawangkaew in the opening round, Raducanu was knocked out of the Australian Open in her second match.

Russian-born Austrian player Anastasia Potapova defeated the world no.29 in two sets on January 21, putting an end to her run in the first tennis major of the year.

Following the disappointing result, questions have been raised about Raducanu's future, as she continues to struggle to recapture the spectacular form that saw her win the US Open in 2021.

And it appears that the 23-year-old has decided that a change in her coaching is needed, as she's released a statement confirming the end of her time with Spanish coach Roig.

Having previously worked with tennis legend Rafael Nadal, expectations for the partnership between Roig and Raducanu were high.

But the British star has decided that after just six months, it is best if she moves on with another coach ahead of the remaining majors in 2026.

Announcing the decision on her Instagram story, Raducanu wrote: "Francis, thank you for our time together. You have been more than a coach to me and I will cherish the many good times we spent together on the court.

"While we have come to the conclusion together that we ought not to move forward, please know that I am very grateful for all you have taught me and fond of our time shared."

Since winning the US Open at just 18 years old, Raducanu has had a high turnover of coaches, with Roig being the ninth that she has worked with during her career.

In early 2025, Raducanu enjoyed a strong start to the year working with Andy Murray's former coach Mark Petchey and Nick Cavaday as part of temporary arrangements, before hiring Roig permanently in August.

However, she struggled to replicated her form in earlier in the year with the Spaniard, failing to win more than two matches at any of the tournaments she competed in during their time together.

Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursunov and Sebastian Sachs are all a part of the list of Raducanu's former coaches, with a brief spell working with Vladimir Platenik in Indian Wells in 2025 also included.

As it stands, it's unclear who Raducanu will appoint to replace Roig ahead of her opening match in the Transylvania Open in Cluj next week.
