Fans can’t believe what Ronnie O’Sullivan did in his shock English Open defeat, they’ve turned on him

Fans can’t believe what Ronnie O’Sullivan did in his shock English Open defeat, they’ve turned on him

Ronnie O’Sullivan was knocked out of the English Open on Tuesday night.

Fans can’t quite believe what Ronnie O’Sullivan did during his shock defeat at the English Open.

On Tuesday night, seven-time world champion O’Sullivan took on China’s He Guoqiang in the first round of the English Open in Brentwood.

24-year-old He got off to a great start as he led 3-0 with breaks of 78 and 77.

O’Sullivan then pulled the score back to 3-2 but He won the sixth frame to win 4-2.

During the match, O’Sullivan played left-handed as he struggled to produce his best form.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Ronnie O'Sullivan should be charged for his performance. We know he's competent with his left hand, but after a sudden, he's become left-handed because his opponent was one away from winning. Ridiculous.”

Another tweeted: “There's no chance Ronnie O'Sullivan plays left-handed against anyone in the top 16. Fans who travelled far and wide have been shown the middle finger.”

A third fan added: “Ronnie O'Sullivan loses and deserved too, horrific & unprofessional, left-handed majority of the game, shirt untucked, didn't want to be there. Disrespecting the game & his opponent.”

Someone else wrote: “O’Sullivan taking the p**s here, playing left-handed, and playing shocking with it. Disrespectful to the crowd.”

When asked why he decided to play left-handed, O’Sullivan said to The Sun: “Forget about the Worlds. I'm not even bothered to be honest with you, if I'm going to play rubbish I might as well play left-handed.

“Play left-handed and enjoy it, but be useless, or play right-handed, be useless and not enjoy it.”

He added: “I haven't got long, I'm not going to deny it, I'm not playing well enough, there's no point in even worrying about it - I've just accepted it now which is quite a nice place to be really.

“I'm awful, it's embarrassing. I miss so many balls. I've been missing balls for the last four or five years and every now and then I'll miss a few less, maybe, and get a couple of results. Even in tournaments I've won people have missed mad opportunities to beat me. I can't get away from it, poor, but there's nothing I can do about it.”
