It's all eyes on LA 2028 after Paris' success...

It's safe to say the Olympic Games in Paris this summer provided entertainment to the nation at a much needed time.

From basketball to breakdancing, nothing quite beats live sport and now focus will quickly turn to Los Angeles 2028.

The baton was officially passed in the closing ceremony on Sunday at the Stade de France, with some huge changes to key events already announced.

Six new sports will make their debuts in the US with the Olympic Committee set to shake things up.

The question on everyone's lips remains, just what has made the cut and which events are set to be axed?

It's goodbye to two sports in the Los Angeles Olympics

Breaking - or breakdancing as it is more commonly know, will be no more at LA in 2028.

Those of you wishing to see Aussie dancer Raygun will have to look elsewhere - with the sport slashed after just one year.

Boxing is also set to be scrapped, with funding and governance two huge issues to resolve if it is to stay.

At present, a 2025 deadline has been set for boxing to prove to the International Olympic Committee it has cleaned up its act behind the scenes.

Some six new sports are set to make their way into the Olympics and quite a few have raised eyebrows.

Which sports are set to feature for the first time in 2028?

Flag football will be introduced in the US - no surprise there - with the sport drawing similarities to American football and the NFL.

Squash is also set to be launched and is a popular sport in the UK, played inside a four-walled court with red lines on all walls.

Which four sports will be reinstated by the Olympic Committee?

Baseball and softball will make a return at the 2028 LA Games, perhaps due to their popularity in the United States.

The latter was dropped at London and Rio but is now set to make a return.

Lacrosse, another sport popular in North America, will return in Los Angeles.

Lacrosse is a little odd because it hasn't been included in an Olympiad since 1908.

Also providing further joy for UK fans, Cricket will be making a comeback, after last being played at the Olympics in 1900.
