Barron Trump tipped to sign for NBA team after Donald Trump sworn in as US President

Barron Trump tipped to sign for NBA team after Donald Trump sworn in as US President

Donald Trump's son could make serious waves in the NBA if he decided to join.

Barron Trump has been tipped to shock the world and join the NBA just days after his dad was sworn in as President of the USA.

On Monday, Donald Trump took office as the 47th President of the United States of America, after being sworn for his second term in the oval office.

While a lot of media attention focused on the list of extensive orders Trump signed on his first day back in the White House, perhaps the biggest story online has been centred around the President's son, Barron.

The 18-year-old shocked viewers as his 6-foot-7 towered over almost everyone else attending the inauguration ceremony in Washington DC.

After seeing Barron attending his dad's inauguration, comedian and lifelong Knicks fan Michael Rapaport has called for his team to give the youngster an opportunity in the NBA.

"With Big Body Barron, he's that dude," he said in a video posted to X.

"Big Body's gonna do good things in this world.

"I was thinking while Big Body was up there, standing in the back, hulking - the Knicks should sign him to a 10-day [contract], see what he's got," Rapaport added.

"[Knicks centre] Mitch Robinson ain't coming back anytime soon, you never know. You need another big man in the post. He looks like he's got a soft touch."

Although Robinson is likely not being serious and it's almost certain that Barron would never be given the opportunity to play in the NBA, it is possible that he could feature in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

The annual exhibition game features former players, musicians, actors and athletes from other sports such as Kevin Hart, WWE Star The Mitz and Justin Bieber.

And if he were to feature, it wouldn't be the first sport that Barron has made headlines playing after highlights of him playing football in his youth went viral last month.

Barron is reportedly a major fan of the sport and is said to have spent time training with Wayne Rooney at MLS club DC United six years ago.

"(Donald) asked me to give his son football lessons," Rooney revealed in an interview with Gary Neville on The Overlap.

"(Barron) said: 'Do you want to see my dad?' He took me up into the Oval office and then from there, his PA was just texting: 'Do you want to play a few holes?'"
