Dr. Dre reveals he's 'dead serious' about trying out to compete in one sport for 2028 Olympics

Dr. Dre reveals he's 'dead serious' about trying out to compete in one sport for 2028 Olympics

Dr. Dre is aiming to make Team USA's squad for the next Olympics.

Dr. Dre says he's 'dead ass serious' about trying to compete at the 2028 Olympics.

Dre - real name Andre Romell Young - was a part of the closing ceremony as Paris officially handed Olympic hosting duties to Los Angeles for the event in 2028.

He performed alongside Snoop Dogg on the sunny Venice Beach stage, with the pair of rap legends performing 'The Next Episode' - a fitting tune to welcome the Games to Los Angeles.

And Dre hopes to compete on home soil in a shock career change.

The 59-year-old is a keen archer and hopes to make Team USA's archery squad for the Olympics in Los Angeles.

"I'm try'na try out for the Olympics in 2028," he said, before revealing the sport he'd take up at the Olympics.

"Archery," he added. "I'm dead ass serious. Yup."

On his love for archery, he continued: "I actually started playing around with archery in junior high. I stopped for a while, and my son bought me a setup.

"I have it set up in my backyard and I heard qualifying for the Olympics is 77 feet. I practice at 90. Wouldn't that be interesting?"

South Korea's Kim Woo-jin won gold in the men's individual competition, and they also took home the main prize in the mixed team event.

USA claimed bronze in the mixed team event, so Dre has some work to do if he wants to make the squad.

The Compton-native took up archery as a hobby a few years ago, with a clip of him teaching Big Boy how to shoot arrows going viral.

So, he clearly knows what he's doing, but whether he's Olympic standard is another question.

The Los Angeles Games is not just home territory for Dre but also his backyard, having grown up in the area, making an appearance at the Olympics even more sweeter.
