Travis Kelce sent warning by the FBI as worrying details emerge in new report

Travis Kelce sent warning by the FBI as worrying details emerge in new report

The NFL star, who is dating singer Taylor Swift, has been issued a warning about his safety alongside several other athletes.

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has been issued a warning regarding his safety by the FBI, according to reports.

Kelce, 35, currently plays as a tight end for the Chiefs and has been in fine form, as his side have won 15 of their 16 fixtures so far this season.

However, in recent weeks, the Mail reported that the footballer was shaken by a burglary on his $6m Kansas home while he and partner Taylor Swift were both at a Chiefs game.

Travis’ teammate, Patrick Mahomes, also saw his property burgled back in October.

Several items were missing from Kelce’s property, such as $100,000 in jewellery, $20,000 cash and Mahomes first Super Bowl jersey, according to the Mail's report.

As a result, Kelce has bolstered the security system at his home. Kelce and Swift, 35, regularly spend time together at the NFL star's property, meaning she could potentially be impacted if a similar incident were to occur.

A source told the Mail: “As the holidays approach, Travis has gone all out to make sure that the security system and security personnel at his home is invincible.

“The best gift he could get both of them is safety and assurance that they will always have a good night's sleep.”

They added: “Aside from a team of skilled security protecting the perimeter and surrounding grounds of his home 24/7, he has also installed a safety room in his renovations, which also include a man cave underground.

“He has installed a state-of-the-art security system with every single possible entry, including all windows, secured.”

Now, it has emerged that the FBI has issued a “formal alert” to “at least nine professional athletes”, according to Marca.

With Mahomes, Kelce, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, as well as NBA players Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, Mike Conley Jr. of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Bobby Portis of the Milwaukee Bucks included in the list.

“These homes are targeted for burglary due to the perception they may have high-end goods like designer handbags, jewelry, watches, and cash,” read an FBI report obtained by ABC News.

Marca’s report suggests that the FBI have identified theft groups as the perpetrators. The groups use “extensive preparation techniques”, including “leveraging publicly available information and social media to track their targets by analysing patterns in the athletes' routines”.

“These preparation tactics enable theft groups to conduct burglaries in a short amount of time," read the information included in ABC's report.

"Organized theft groups bypass alarm systems, use Wi-Fi jammers to block Wi-Fi connections and disable devices, cover security cameras, and obfuscate their identities."

The FBI strongly encouraged the athletes mentioned to keep any record of valuable items away from social media to avoid attracting yet more unwanted attention from intruders.
