In the end it wasn't even close. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated Super Bowl LIX, ending the Kansas City Chiefs' hopes of a historic 'three-peat' while finally getting their revenge for 2023.
The Chiefs were playing in their fifth Super Bowl in just six years and went into the game as favourites but were demolished by the Eagles, who ran out 40-22 winners in New Orleans.
Kansas City's star quarterback Patrick Mahomes was sacked six times during the humiliating defeat as Travis Kelce and Co were comfortably outclassed at Caesars Superdome.

Speaking after the game, Kelce struggled to hide his disappointment.
"I think there were a lot of things going wrong," he admitted. "The whole night, it was an accumulation of everything. It's going to hurt."
Such was the manner of the victory, that the Eagles could begin to celebrate well before the game had reached its conclusion.

With almost three minutes still remaining in the final quarter, and with the Eagles 40-14 up on the scoreboard, head coach Nick Sirianni had Gatorade dumped over him by several players.
While the sight of a victorious coach being given an early bath is traditional in the Super Bowl, to see a coach being drenched with so much time left on the clock spoke volumes about the one-sided nature of the game.
While many saw the funny side of the incident, others accused the Eagles of disrespecting their opponents.
"Before the game's even over is disrespectful," posted one fan on X, following by the crying-laughing emoji.

"The earliest Gatorade pour we've ever had," added another account.
While a third wrote: "So disrespectful."

Speaking after the win, Eagles coach Sirianni said he didn't care what other people thought about him or his team.

"We didn't really ever care what anyone thought about how we won... all we wanted to do was win," a tearful Sirianni told Fox Sports. "These guys did not want to let each other down."
"That's a great football team (the Chiefs)," he added. "We had to come out and play our best. What a lesson to the whole world about teamwork.
"This is the ultimate team game. You can't be great without the greatness of others and this was a great performance by everybody. It took everybody.
"I'll be shedding a couple of happy tears tonight. A lot of work went into this."
