Travis Kelce is joining the growing list of celebrities embracing the ‘iceberg house’ trend.
The NFL star became the highest paid tight end in league history when he signed a new contract ahead of the current season, and his fame has shot up since he starting dating pop sensation Taylor Swift.
And it seems Kelce is using some of his wealth to make his home even more private.

Kelce owns a $6m mansion in Leawood, Kansas, which is about 20 minutes away from the Kansas City Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium. His home was recently targeted by burglars, who took $20,000 from the house as part of a crime spree that also targeted his Chiefs teammate, Patrick Mahomes.
Swift often spends time at the property, which is part of a luxury, gated community, and it already boasts six bedrooms, a pickleball court and miniature golf course.
But Kelce is now reportedly building an ‘underground man cave’ which will be large enough to house an indoor golf simulator.

The first phase of construction is said to be finished by December, and the new feature is sure to attract more visits from Travis’ brother Jason, and Mahomes – both keen golfers.
The trend for luxury underground spaces, known as the ‘iceberg house’, is on the rise. As well as privacy, it can help get around planning regulations and preserve beautiful views above ground. However, it can make construction more complicated and extremely expensive.
According to the Robb Report, it’s a real estate trend that is unlikely to stop any time soon.

“There has been a noticeable rise in demand for iceberg homes, and I believe their popularity will continue to grow in the coming years,” said Zoltan E Pali, co-founder of Los Angeles-based architecture studio SPF.
“The ability to create expansive spaces that are hidden from view allows homeowners to enjoy their amenities without drawing attention, which is particularly appealing in celebrity-dense areas like Los Angeles.”
Swift reportedly owns multiple properties across the US, including a penthouse in New York and a seaside estate in Rhode Island.
