Steph Curry was in no doubt when asked who the GOAT was between him, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant

Steph Curry was in no doubt when asked who the GOAT was between him, Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant

Curry was asked how he compares to the GOATs of basketball.

Steph Curry was asked to compare himself against the best basketball players of all time – and he had no hesitation in naming who should be in top spot.

The basketball GOAT debate is destined to go on and on as the NBA’s biggest stars, past and present, are asked to give their views on Michael Jordan, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant’s credentials.

Curry himself is regarded as one of the NBA’s best ever players, and he has so far collected four NBA titles and been named to the All-Star Game ten times. However, he often misses out on a spot in people’s top three of all time.

But when he was asked to rank himself against basketball’s best as part of a light-hearted interview for Sports Illustrated, he was keen to put that right.

Questioned first about who was better out of himself and the late Kobe Bryant, he answered: “I love you man, but I’m going with myself.”

Next up it was San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan, who won five NBA titles in a 19-year career with the Spurs after being selected as the number 1 overall pick.

Curry said: “Coach Kerr always compares us for leadership qualities. But I can shoot from the outside, too.”

Perhaps the comparison everyone wanted to hear about was his rival LeBron, the only other current NBA player in the list.

Asked who was the better of the two, Curry laughed: “What do you expect me to say? Me!”

When it comes to Michael Jordan, there are plenty who believe he is the GOAT of all sports, not just basketball. But Curry is also confident that in a choice between himself and Jordan, there is only one winner.

He added: “Mike, I love you man, but…me!”

The interview was a conducted in a fun and jokey style, and Curry’s answers haven’t been taken too seriously.

When asked about the GOAT debate recently, Steph has admitted that it’s too difficult to compare between eras.

"I ascribe to the mindset that there are multiple GOATs," Curry told Willie Geist on Today.

"And I hate that, it's not a cop-out answer, but it's so hard to compare eras."
