Greatest NBA players ranked and one player has been placed above Michael Jordan for first time ever

Michael Jordan is often regarded as the NBA’s greatest-ever player.

The greatest NBA players of all time have been ranked and one star has been placed above the legendary Michael Jordan.

Over the years, Jordan, 61, has often been regarded as the GOAT of NBA and he continues to be influential in the sport despite retiring in 2003.

Since stepping away from professional basketball, Jordan has made millions from his work with the clothing brand Nike.

In total, Jordan won six NBA Championships, six NBA Finals MVPs, five regular season MVPs, and one NBA Defensive Player of the Year during his illustrious career.

Despite being labelled as the greatest of all time, Jordan has been knocked off the top spot in the latest ranking of NBA GOATs.

As revealed by HoopsHype, Jordan has fallen to second place after being overtaken by current Los Angeles Lakers superstar Lebron James.

The 39-year-old already has four NBA titles to his name and recently won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games alongside the likes of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant.

Explaining their decision to replace Jordan with James at the top of the rankings, HoopsHype wrote: “His advantage in terms of sustained excellence is just too big to ignore.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Bill Russell complete the top five.

Further down the list, Kobe Bryant was ranked in eighth place, behind Wilt Chamberlain and Larry Bird.

Meanwhile, Shaquille O’Neal came in ninth and Tim Duncan was 10th.

Two-time NBA champion Durant was ranked 12th and Golden State Warriors legend Curry was listed 13th. You can see the full list here.

During his playing days, Jordan named four players that could beat him in a 1vs1 match.

He said: “The hardest opponent for me to play against? In terms of 1-on-1? Small guys.

“[Allen] Iverson, Damon Stoudamire, Rod Strickland. Those little guards like that, it's tough for me. Muggsy [Bogues]. [John] Starks? No problem with Starks.”
