WNBA star Brittney Griner has been blasted by Donald Trump for going to Russia “loaded up with drugs”.
The former President of the United States appeared on the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show and was quizzed about Griner’s detainment in Russia.
The 76-year-old did not hold back as he brutally ripped into the basketball player.

He said: “She went in there loaded up with drugs into a hostile territory where they’re very vigilant about drugs. They don’t like drugs, and she got caught.
“And, now we’re supposed to get her out, and she makes, you know, a lot of money, I guess. We’re supposed to get her out for an absolute killer and one of the biggest arms dealers in the world. Killed many Americans. Killed many people.”
Trump added: “It certainly doesn't seem like a very good trade, does it? He's absolutely one of the worst in the world and he's gonna be given his freedom because a potentially spoiled person goes into Russia loaded up with drugs.”

However, the ‘loaded with drugs’ claim made by Trump may fall on deaf ears as it has been reported that when Griner pleaded guilty in court, she stated that she accidentally brought marijuana to Russia after being prescribed by a doctor in the US to help her deal with pain from old injuries.
According to reports, the US are considering swapping Griner with convicted arms dealer Viktor Bout, who is known as the “Merchant of Death”.
According to TMZ Sport, US Congressman Colin Allred said that it is up to Russia to accept the deal.
Allred said: “The ball is entirely in the Russian's court. I think we've made a very good offer to them based off what we know what they want.”

Griner has been detained near Moscow since late February after Russian officials searched her bag and found hashish oil. She pleaded guilty and is now awaiting her sentence, the WNBA star could potentially face a sentence of up to 10 years.
The only way for her to escape Russia looks likely to be a prisoner swap.
Will Griner be allowed to leave Russia and return to the US? Only time will tell.
