Joe Rogan calls out Guinness World Records over 'lying' about record he claims should be his

The UFC commentator believes he's a record-breaker

Joe Rogan believes Guinness World Records are "lying" about the record for the most-downloaded podcast in the world.

The UFC commentator began his show, The Joe Rogan Experience, in 2009 and it regularly tops the charts for the most-watched podcasts.

Rogan has produced more than 2,000 episodes of the JRE and broadcasts typically run past the three-hour mark. Previous guests include the likes of Elon Musk, Mike Tyson and Donald Trump.

Indeed, the scope of the influence Rogan and his podcast wield is believed to have played a part in Trump's re-election, after the former US president appeared on Rogan's show last year and then received the UFC commentator's official endorsement prior to the election.

In 2020, Rogan signed a deal with Sportify which saw the streaming platform acquire exclusive rights to the JRE, an agreement that reportedly pocketed the MMA analyst $100 million. When Rogan and Spotify penned a new rights contract last year, it was said to be worth $250 million to the stand-up comedian and former Fear Factor presenter.

On one recent episode, Rogan and comedians Chris Distefano and Yannis Pappas were discussing the various world records held by scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard before their chat turned to the topic of podcasting records.

Distefano told Rogan: "If you keep going, you might be in line for Guinness World Records' most podcast minutes ever recorded."

"Maybe," Rogan responded. "I mean, what's the record now? I might already have it.

"I already have the Guinness World Record one that Adam Carolla holds. Adam Carolla has, like, the most-downloaded podcast of all time.

"Like, b**** that's mine. You can have it, though. You can keep it. Keep your name in the book, but that's mine."

"You have to go to them to try to get it on the books. And I don't give a f***. But if they were, like, really checking, it has to be [me]." Rogan added that his podcast "has been number one for five or six years, there's no way. There's no way Adam Carolla's still got it. That's crazy. You're lying."
