The former wrestling Olympian retired in 2019 with a record of 22 wins and just three losses, with one no contest. Among those victories are standout triumphs over Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson and Alexander Gustafsson.
Despite being undersized for the heavyweight division – the ranks in which he both started and ended his MMA career – Cormier is regarded as one of the best and most accomplished fighters in the UFC history and in 2022 he was inducted into the fight promotion's Modern Wing of its Hall of Fame.
Since hanging up his gloves, Cormier has been a regular presence on UFC broadcasts as a cage-side colour commentator, often partnering Joe Rogan and play-by-play man Jon Anik in the booth.

And since getting to know Cormier well as a colleague, Rogan has high praise for the former champion, personally and professionally.
“Daniel was a light heavyweight champion and heavyweight champion,” Rogan said during a recent episode the Joe Rogan Experience.
“He was a two-division world champion and was dominating in a weight class in Strikeforce that he didn’t even belong in – heavyweight. He’s like 5-11 – he’s not a big guy.

“He’s just such an insane tank of a human being. His wrestling was so insane and just his will was so insane. He dominated two different divisions. He was a killer.
"The nicest f**king guy you’d ever meet in your life. If you were hanging around him, you would never believe that he could pick up anybody in the room and smash them on their head.”
