Usman Nurmagomedov beat Paul Hughes to defend his Bellator lightweight title in a fight of the year candidate at PFL's Champions Series event in Dubai as the Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor rivalry lives on.
The Bellator lightweight championship clash between Usman vs. Hughes was billed as 'Dagestan vs. Ireland 2' following Khabib vs. McGregor at UFC 229.
Back in October 2018, Khabib submitted McGregor to defend his UFC lightweight title and secure bragging rights, ending their explosive rivalry.

"I underestimated this guy, which was my little mistake. But I am still undefeated, undisputed lightweight champion. Thank you so much.
"His wrestling defence and takedown defence was very good. He is tough and strong. I didn't think he would be that strong, but he was really strong.
"I have never taken damage like I did in this fight. I have a lot of pain on my body."
Hughes, who suffered just the second defeat of his pro career, added: "It played how I expected. I am so gutted, so disappointed. I really thought I won that one.
