According to ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, Scheffler drove past an officer at the entrance to the club after a misunderstanding about traffic flow measures.
A charge sheet filed by the local court shows the police charges against the 27-year-old.
Scheffler has since released a statement on social media, calling the incident a 'big misunderstanding' as he referenced the tragic passing of a man who was struck by a shuttle bus.

On a post on his Instagram story, he said: "This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers. It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do. I never intended to disregard any of the instructions. I'm hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today."
He added: "Of course, all of us involved in the tournament express our deepest sympathies to the family of the man who passed away in the earlier accident this morning. It truly puts everything in perspective."
The incident occurred as the second round of the PGA Championship was delayed due to a fatal accident near the club.
In the early hours of Friday morning, a pedestrian was killed by a shuttle bus outside the gold course.
