Donald Trump is an avid golf fan and has revealed who he is supporting for this years Masters.
He’s a keen player, too, with it rumoured him playing as much as six out of first seven weeks since he returned to the White House. He also owns several golf courses in countries that include Scotland and Ireland, as well as in the US. So, he considers himself to have his finger firmly son the pulse when it comes to the game. Not to mention his opinion on who will win the Masters.
Of course, Scottie Scheffler is defending champion. His two major wins have both come in the Masters. He won his second title in Augusta in 2024, after winning the tournament in 2022, when he won by a stroke at seven under par. However, although President Trump describes him as great and as a friend, Scheffler is not who he supporting to emerge as victorious at Augusta this year.

Nor does Trump back Bryson DeChambeau, who is also reported to be on very good terms with the President. He is sure it will be a good tournament though. “It's going to be a very good Masters. Looks like it's going to be a very good Masters. Some fantastic golfers at the top,” he said. Yet when asked who he is tipping to win, President Trump is actually rooting for everyone.
Perhaps not best known for empathy, President Trump said of professional golfers, “They’re all friends of mine.” This appears to be a rare occasion when the US’s Head of State does not want to hurt anyone’s feelings. He drew much media attention when he attended the 2025 Superbowl, which saw the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs. As yet, he has not confirmed whether he will be there in person at Augusta.
If Scheffler was to win, he would become the first player to win back-to-back Masters since Tiger Woods followed up his 2001 win with victory again in 2002. Although instead of being bullish on history being repeated, Trump has remained magnanimous on who the victor will be.
