Fans are in disbelief over the price of hospitality food at the Miami Grand Prix

The pricing of hospitality food at the Miami GP has emerged online.

The extortionate pricing of hospitality food at the Miami Grand Prix has, rather unsurprisingly, gone viral after it emerged that fans had to pay $250 (£198) for a watermelon and tomatillo salad.

In what turned out to be a rather uneventful race, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen fought his way from ninth place in the grid to beat teammate Sergio Perez and win the Miami Grand Prix.

Verstappen, a two-time Formula 1 world champion, extended his lead in the championship standings on Sunday evening.

But away from the track, a menu showing the outrageous prices of hospitality food at the event somewhat overshadowed the result, with many fans left open-mouthed by the expensive rates.

As you can see from the pictures below, there was a total of 15 items on the menu, with each dish serving four people.

Still, the price per portion remained expensive. Maine Lobster Rolls would have set you back $450 [£357], while a Fruit Refresher featuring pink pineapple, watermelon and kiwi came in at a staggering $295 [£234] – which equates to £58 each.

Empanadas $350 [£277], steamed Korean Steamed Buns $300 [£238] and a $275 portion of Carne Asada Nachos (£218) were some of the 'warm' options for guests.

Here's how social media reacted to the prices.

One said: "The reality of this menu shows how much inequality there is - wow," while another wrote: "Imagine paying a fortune on a hospitality ticket only to have to spend THIS absurd amount of money in food."

A third commented: "You can go to the Indy 500 one of the biggest races in motorsport for less than a watermelon and tomatillo salad whatever that is."

A fourth added: "Paid less than some steamed buns to go to another country to watch the F1 last year. And it still felt too steep.

But yet I'm going to GTWC for the measly sum of £50 this weekend. F1 is losing control fast."
