A commentator has gone viral for commenting on Harry Maguire's "big head" during Manchester United's defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night.

United lost 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate in the Champions League round of 16, with Renan Lodi scoring the crucial goal in the first half.

And in the first half, Maguire was subjected to some light trolling from the commentator over on South African channel Supersport.

As the United skipper had an aerial clash with Jose Maria Gimenez in the first half, the commentator surprised absolutely everyone when he said, "It's a well-known discussion point in football that Harry Maguire has a big head and he's able to spread the load".

It came out of nowhere and had people very confused as to what they had just heard:

Maguire's head was involved in a brutal looking collision with the teeth of teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in the second half as the England defender backpedalled.

Maguire was able to continue but the skipper was surprisingly hooked by for bit-part player Juan Mata with six minutes remaining on the clock and United searching for a goal.

The substitution was met by ironic cheers from the United faithful in the stands.

Maguire has been widely criticised for his displays at the heart of United's backline this season.
