This summer looks to be a busy one in the Premier League, with clubs recovering financially after a difficult couple of years and looking to top the £1 billion spent last year on transfers. The summer transfer window will open at the same time for Premier League, EFL and Scottish league clubs on June 10th and they will have until September 1st to complete their business, although exact times differ depending on the league.
On the continent things operate slightly differently, with the summer window opening on July 1st (the day Erling Haaland’s move to Manchester will be ratified) and shutting on August 31st in France and Italy, and a day later for Spanish and German clubs.
In exceptional circumstances teams can submit a ‘deal sheet’, which grants them an extra two hours to get paperwork finished, as long as it can be proved that a deal has been reached, however this only applies to domestic deals so clubs will hope to have finished their business well in advance. If clubs fail to meet this deadline they will have to wait for January 1st 2023 when the winter window opens.
