Shirt Numbers Throughout Núñez’s Career:
With Núñez arriving under such an immense cost, there will be a massive amount of pressure on the youngster. Now let's have a look at the shirt numbers the Uruguayan striker has donned in his career so far:
During these past couple of seasons at Benfica, Núñez has worn the No.9 shirt, a number that is typically given to a high calibre centre forward such as himself. He proved himself as one of Europe's deadliest forwards last season, putting away 34 goals in all competitions, including scoring against Liverpool twice in their Champions League matches. However, even though he may have deserved this shirt it was difficult taking it from Roberto Firmino who is a fan favourite at Anfield and still has one more year left on his contract.
Another squad number that is becoming synonymous with the young centre forward is the No.11 that he wears internationally for Uruguay. However this No.11 shirt was never really in question as it is currently taken by the world renowned winger Mohamed Salah.
