A star player Wrexham tried to sign during the January transfer window for a club-record fee is now without a club.
Wrexham were prepared to splash the cash in January to secure promotion to League One.
In January, they snapped up former Manchester City player Luke Bolton from Salford and Jack Marriott from Fleetwood Town.

But Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were unsuccessful in bringing Jamie Lindsay to the club despite being in advanced talks over a club-record transfer.
Wrexham had been deep in negotiations to land the Rotherham player in a deal that would have eclipsed the £300,000 the club paid to AFC Wimbledon for Ollie Pope during the 2023 January transfer window.
But talks broke down as Wrexham and Rotherham were 'at odds' over the transfer fee for Lindsay.

Five months on, he's now a free agent following his release at the AESSEAL New York Stadium outfit.
On X, the Scot penned an emotional message confirming his departure.
"Thank you to everyone that has played a part in my 5 memorable years as a ‘Miller’," he wrote.
"Staff, Teammates & fans. 2 League 1 promotions and 3 years in the championship, we’ve been able to create special memories together. Wishing everyone involved all the very best for the future. Jamie."

Of course, without signing the midfielder, Wrexham still managed to claim promotion, finishing second in the League Two table.
As for Lindsay, he played 16 games in the Championship as Rotherham suffered relegation to League One - the same league as Wrexham following their promotion from League Two.

Reynolds and McElhenney could be tempted to reignite their pursuit of the 28-year-old following his release.
Wrexham, who are tipped to make some big signings ahead of next season, have trimmed their squad ahead of potential incomings.
Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign, the club let go Aaron Hayden, Rob Lainton, Callum McFadzean, Ben Tozer, Jordan Tunnicliffe, Luke Young, Owen Cushion and Dan Davies after they all reached the end of their contracts.
