Real Madrid are looking for defensive reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window, and the latest rumour suggests they are turning their attention to a centre-half who plays alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.
The Spanish side completed an incredible treble last season, most notably winning La Liga for the 36th time and the Champions League for a record 15th time. But, if Carlo Ancelotti is to achieve success again this term, he may need to add more players to his squad.
That's because Madrid's defence has been depleted by the departures of both Nacho Fernández and Rafa Marín in the summer, leaving Ancelotti with only Antonio Rudiger and Eder Militao as his recognised and trusted centre-halves.
The player they are now thought to be keen on is Aymeric Laporte, who is currently plying his trade in the Saudi Pro League at Al Nassr. While he's rubbing shoulders with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane right now, and being paid handsomely for it, a return to Spain could be on the cards.

That's according to Diario AS (via Fichajes), with a report claiming Laporte is seen as the ideal addition to the Madrid defensive roster, and a move in January could be discussed between the Spanish giants and the Saudi side.
This idea is corroborated by El Chiringuito’s José Álvarez Haya, but he suggests Los Blancos would face competition from Atletico Madrid and PSG for Laporte's signature.
The Paris outfit have held an interest in the 30-year-old since the summer, with manager Luis Enrique particularly keen to reunite with Laporte after their time working together in the Spanish national team.

MARCA’s José Félix Díaz claimed Laporte is eager to make a return to Europe if an opportunity presents itself, and he is thought to prefer the idea of moving back to Spain as a priority.
Laporte came through the ranks at Athletic Bilbao, before making a big move to Manchester City in 2018. He made the switch to the Saudi league last summer, but it seems he could be tempted to play at a higher level once more.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti could be set to hand minutes to one of the club's academy prospects as he deals with injuries across the pitch, including to experienced full-back, Dani Carvajal.
