Oscar set to complete another shock transfer after earning crazy money in China for the last seven years

Oscar set to complete another shock transfer after earning crazy money in China for the last seven years

The Brazilian is finally set to leave Chinese football.

Former Chelsea midfielder Oscar is set for pastures new after spending the last seven years in China.

Brazilian star Oscar moved to Shanghai Port back in 2017 after spending the previous five seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Shanghai paid a reported €60million (then around £52m) for Oscar, with his wages said to be in the region of £20m a year after tax.

But having won two Chinese Super League titles, the talented star is now in talks regarding a move away from the Asian country ahead of next season.

The midfielder has reportedly been courted by Major League Soccer teams this summer, and it appears that he may decide to finish his career away from China, according to The Athletic.

Having scored eight goals and registered 14 assists last season, Oscar's potential destination remains a mystery at present.

Tom Bogert did rule out a move to Atalanta United however, with Thiago Almada set for a move to Europe this summer.

Oscar acknowledged last year that he and his representatives had been in negotiations with Barcelona about a possible transfer to Spain.

"Barcelona reached out to my agent to know about this possibility, they knew football in China will stop until March," he told TNT Sports in 2023.

"So maybe, but Barca is facing a difficult time now."

Having enjoyed success over in England, Oscar had also failed to rule out a return to the Premier League.

Now aged 32, the midfielder admitted he will always look back on his time spent with the Blues with great fondness, having won two top-flight crowns during his five-year stay.

"Of course, it’s a dream to come back to Chelsea because everyone knows the passion that I have for this club," as quoted by talkSPORT.

"It’s the same passion I have for Shanghai. It’s the two clubs I have played at for a long period.

"I have a lot of good memories at Chelsea and I also have a lot of good memories of Shanghai.

"But I’m still here and I still have dreams to play for this team."
