Liverpool's poor January is about to get worse as the player they reportedly made a £41 million bid for has been forced off with an injury.
The Reds have enjoyed a brilliant start to life under new boss Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer.
As we pass the halfway mark of the 24/25 campaign, Liverpool currently sit top in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.

However, the Reds have recently slipped up against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, casting doubt on whether they have the ability to continue their flying start.
Earlier in the week, it was reported that Liverpool had made a £41 million bid for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni.
As reported by Spanish news outlet Fichajes, the Reds have tabled an offer of £41 million for midfielder Tchouameni.

The 24-year-old has previously been linked with a switch to Liverpool but chose to move to Madrid instead of Anfield.
On Thursday night, Tchouameni started for Carlo Ancelotti's men as they took on Mallorca in the semi-final of the Supercopa de Espana, which was being held at the King Abdullah Sport City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
With 51 minutes on the clock, Tchouameni went down after colliding with an opposition player inside the penalty area.
There was immediate concern about the Frenchman's well-being as it looked like a serious head injury.

However, Tchouameni eventually walked off the pitch and was replaced by Raul Asencio in the 55th minute.
Depending on the seriousness of the injury, this could be a huge blow for Madrid's season and also Liverpool's hopes of trying to lure the midfielder to Anfield in the near future.

After Tchouameni was brought off, Madrid took the lead in the 63rd minute after England midfielder Jude Bellingham broke the deadlock to make it 1-0.
