The reason why Liverpool reportedly turned out the chance to sign Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe has been revealed.
In recent years, Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes club.
However, the 25-year-old made a last-minute U-turn back in 2022 to reject a move to Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid and ended up signing a new deal with PSG.
Last month, it was reported that Liverpool have become the most credible and dangerous candidate for PSG regarding Mbappe’s future.

However, it has now been reported that the Anfield club rejected the chance to sign Mbappe.
According to The Independent, Mbappe’s team got in touch with Liverpool over a potential transfer.
However, the Anfield club did not make an offer due to the Frenchman’s salary, which is set to break the club’s wage structure.
In addition to Liverpool, it was stated that Arsenal are also unwilling to break their wage structure to sign Mbappe, despite the Frenchman being willing to join the club.

Speaking about his future in January, Mbappe said: “Mbappe said: “First of all, I am very, very, very motivated for this year. It is very important. As I said, we have titles to chase and we've already won one, so that's already done. After that, no, I haven't made a decision yet.
“In any case, with the agreement I made with the president this summer, it does not matter what he decides. We manage to protect all parties and preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges that lie ahead, which continues to be the most important thing.”
He continued: “So we'll say it's secondary. I think it was at the end of May 2022 because I didn't know until May. But if I know what I want to do, why drag it out? It just doesn't make sense.”
