A shock Premier League club has emerged as a contender to sign Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku this month, according to a new report.
Nkunku signed for Chelsea from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, but his first season at Stamford Bridge was disrupted by injury.
The France international has been available for the entirety of the current season, but has often been used from the bench in the Premier League by manager Enzo Maresca.

He has made the most of his starts in the Conference League, though, netting five goals and providing three assists in the group stages of the competition.
Maresca stated last month that he wanted to give the likes of Nkunku and fellow attacker Joao Felix more opportunities, but was unable due to the depth that he has available to him.
The 25-year-old has therefore been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in January - and a surprise new suitor for his signature has emerged.

According to ESPN, United have 'asked to be kept informed of developments' in relation to Nkunku's future, though the increasing use of that term in recent windows does not necessarily indicate that they will make a move.
It is claimed that the Frenchman, who was of interest to United when he was at RB Leipzig, could move to Old Trafford in the event of Alejandro Garnacho leaving the club.
The Argentinian winger could go in the opposite direction to Nkunku as he has been linked with a surprise move to Chelsea.

The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that United would only consider selling Garnacho for around £80 million in the face of interest from Napoli, but a sale would allow them to explore adding to Ruben Amorim's squad this month and reports now indicate they would accept a lesser fee.
United are yet to sign a player during the January transfer window but have been linked with a move for Lecce wing-back Patrick Dorgu.
