Chelsea 'will back' Enzo Maresca with four crucial signings to transform the team

Chelsea 'will back' Enzo Maresca with four crucial signings to transform the team

Enzo Maresca is set to become Chelsea’s new boss, replacing Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to back their new manager Enzo Maresca with four crucial signings to transform the club.

Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea last week after a below-par 23/24 season.

The Argentine failed to get the best out of the players at his disposal as they finished in a disappointing sixth place in the Premier League.

However, Chelsea did manage to win their last five league matches but it was mutually agreed that Pochettino would not continue as manager.

After days of speculation, it was widely claimed that Leicester City boss Maresca will take over from Pochettino after agreeing a five-year deal.

The Italian is set for his first taste of the Premier League as a manager after an impressive spell in charge of the Foxes.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, it has been claimed that Chelsea are willing to back Maresca with four signings.

As reported by The Sun, the Blues are set to target Napoli frontman Victor Osimhen, who is believed to have a release clause of £113 million.

The Nigerian has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and Stamford Bridge could be a realistic destination.

Apart from Osimhen, Chelsea are also looking at Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

It is said that Maresca is looking for a goalkeeper who can comfortably play out from the back and believes Trafford fits that bill.

Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who is set to become a free agent, has also been tracked by the Stamford Bridge club.

The fourth player was not named in the original report but it is believed to be a left-back.

However, in order for Chelsea to spend big this summer, they would have to first offload some players to satisfy the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The likes of Conor Gallagher, Ian Maatsen, Armando Broja and Trevoh Chalobah are all at risk of being sold as Chelsea look to balance their books ahead of a potentially crucial summer for the club.
