A list of the top 30 teams in world football has been compiled by data analysts.

The data analysis team at FiveThirtyEight have been looking into the statistics of some of the best teams around the world.

By assessing each team’s defensive and offensive strengths, they have ranked the top 30 teams by their SPI ratings. Which you can read more about here.

Perhaps to no surprise, teams from the Premier League are heavily present, especially in the top ten as five of the ten are teams playing in the top flight of English football. Including the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, who are both ranked in the top five.

As expected, City are the highest ranked English team on the list. Pep Guardiola’s side have won four of the last five league titles as they continue to blow teams away with the sheer quality that the Etihad club have all over the pitch.

And now, with the addition of 22-year-old striker Erling Haaland, the expectations placed on City will be for them to finally get their hands on the elusive Champions League trophy.

Haaland is thought to be the missing piece that will propel City to European glory, the Norway super star has hit the ground running in the Premier League, scoring nine goals in five matches. Including back to back hat tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. The race for the Golden Boot looks like it has been won already.

Manchester United just about made it as they were ranked 29th out of 30.

Celtic is the other British side to make it into the top 30.
