Shrewsbury goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne has called for a small group of fans who were heard mocking the victims of the Hillsborough disaster to be banned for life.
At around midday on Sunday, a video was posted to social media that appears to show Salop supporters chanting "F*** the 96" ahead of their FA Cup third round clash against Liverpool.
It is believed the fans were walking around Liverpool city centre when the footage was taken.
After the full-time whistle, Shrewsbury goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne, who was an unused substitute in the game, took to social media to call out those involved in the incident.
He called for the fans to be banned for life.
"As for these Shrewsbury fans! Should be ashamed of yourselves," he wrote on Twitter. "Liverpool showed nothing but respect today. Shocking absolutley shocking! Out them and ban them for life!"
Burgoygne was one of many people to call out the disgusting chants.
One Shrewsbury fan wrote: "Just to point out, anyone who sings songs about Hillsborough is not welcome at Shrewsbury and 99% of us are just as disgusted about that as everyone else."
Another said: "Have a word. If this is your mate… tell them to f*** off to Telford".
On the pitch, Shrewsbury produced a valiant display against the Premier League side on Sunday. In fact, they took a surprise lead at Anfield when Daniel Udoh scored in the 27th minute.
Liverpool's highly-rated youngster Kaide Gordon equalised soon after before Fabinho netted just before half-time to give Jurgen Klopp's side a 2-1 lead going into the break.
Roberto Firmino made it three with just over ten minutes remaining before Fabinho netted his brace in injury time.
