Cristiano Ronaldo's customised private jet worth $73,000,000 emerges online and the maintenance bill for it is mindblowing

The Gulfstream G650 is widely regarded as the best performing private jet in its class.

This won't come as much of a surprise but the maintenance bill for Cristiano Ronaldo's customised Gulfstream 650 private jet has emerged and it's, erm... on the pricey side.

Earlier this year, a list of the 50 highest-paid athletes of all time was released and unsurprisingly, Ronaldo came in third place after earning a reported $1.92 billion during his trophy-laden career.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is said to earn a salary of $215 million (£177m) per-year at Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, according to Goal.

He has already splashed plenty of cash on a wide range of cars, including an Lamborghini Aventador, a Ferrari 599 GTO and a Rolls Royce Phantom, but perhaps his biggest purchase to date is a private jet.

Ronaldo is said to own a top-of-the-range Gulfstream jet worth a reported $73 million [£56m].

The aircraft can seat up to 19 passengers, according to SimpleFlying, and can fly 7,500 nautical miles, which allows him to travel long distances without needing to refuel.

In terms of its features, the G650 has an optimised cabin altitude for healthier flights with minimal jet lag, perfect for Ronaldo and his busy schedule.

The cabin can also sleep up to ten people and has three living areas.

So how much does it cost to maintain? According to LibertyJet, the total annual budget for flying a Gulfstream 650 private jet 200 hours per year is approximately $1,860,909, or $2,995,763 for flying 400 hours per year.

"The maximum speed of the Gulfstream 650 is 595 mph, but with slower climb, cruise and descending speeds it is more likely to average 476 mph, which would equate to an average cost per mile of approximately $19.55 at 200 hours per year," the publication adds.

"If you fly 400 hours per year, you can spread the total fixed costs over more flight hours which reduces your cost per mile to $15.73."
