Oh to be a referee.
A reported missed call has led to an entire women’s football team chasing down a referee who copped some punches and kicks.
Players for DC Motema Pembe, a football team in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, were infuriated after a referee reportedly did not grant them a penalty.

Media Ite reports that the team were losing to Mazembe women 5-1 when the referee did not make the call for a questionable foul inside the box.
What followed was a hoard of angry Motema Pembe players chasing the official off the pitch with some sideline staff even attempting to throw a punch his way.
As he made his way to what was presumably the referee’s box, the players attacked him, throwing punches and kicks as he struggled to escape.

It was an extremely scary scene for the referee as he became trapped by a bunch of angry players.
Eventually, he received help from a stadium staff member who pulled the referee away and assisted him down the tunnel.
However, many of the players continued to follow suit as they weren’t content with the jabs and kicks they got in earlier.
The women on the opposition side stayed on the pitch as they watched the scenes unfold.

The video stops as the referee makes his escape.
According to GhanaWeb, some players were suspended for their role in the melee.
It comes less than a week removed from yet another startling on-field incident, but this time involving a fan and a player.
CNN reports that a Colombian first-division game between Deported Tolima and Millonaris had just kicked off when a fan broke onto the pitch.

The pitch invader had made a beeline to Millonarios player Daniel Cataño and struck him in the back of the head from behind just as the whistle had been blown.
The 31-year-old had previously played for Deported Tolima before transferring to his current side in 2022.
Catano responded to the attack by chasing down the fan and knocking him to the ground before security came and collected the assailant.
As the fan was escorted out of the stadium by police the referee decided the act of defence was worthy of a red card to Catano.

The dismissal was followed up with an army of complaints from the number 10’s teammates.
However, based on the severity of the situation Millonarios decided it would not continue the match over concerns for players' safety.
