La Liga giants Real Madrid have been named the biggest football club in the world in a new poll with over 34,000 votes.

The Spanish outfit have won 34 La Liga titles and 13 Champions Leagues in their history, the most for either competition.

Los Blancos' rivalry with Barcelona, with both sides playing out El Clasico multiple times per season, is one of sports' greatest rivalries.

Despite falling on hard times in recent years, there's no denying the Red Devils are a global force.

Sir Alex Ferguson's 26 years in charged transformed them into English football's biggest name.

The Scot managed to overtake Liverpool's record of 18 league titles and get United to the round number of 20 before retiring in 2013.

United haven't won the title since and look a ways away from challenging again, but their influence can't be disputed.

In third is Barcelona with 20 per cent of the vote who like United, have fallen away in recent years.

It's arguably been a more embarrassing fall from grace for the Blaugrana, with three humiliating Champions League exits on the spin in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

La Masia graduate Xavi is in the dugout now and is on a good run, hoping to bring his former club to glory once again.

They defeated Real 4-0 before the international break and it was one of their best performances in years.

Coming last with the remaining four per cent is Bayern Munich, who basically run German football.

Bayern are on a run of nine Bundesliga titles in a row and it's likely they make it 10 in a row at the end of this campaign.

Along with that is a reputation of being well run and impressive in European competition, having won six Champions Leagues.

They're one of the favourites for this season's Champions League and face Villarreal in the quarter-finals next month.
