Real Madrid won their 14th European title after beating Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League final in Paris.

The Spanish giants got the better of Liverpool to bring European club football's biggest prize back to the Bernabeu for the first time since 2018.

Vinicius Junior, who has enjoyed a superb campaign this season, scored the only goal of the game after slotting home from close range in the 59th minute.

Federico Valverde smashed a ball across the box, picking out Brazilian who made no mistake in front of goal.

Real have Thibaut Courtois to thank following his heroics in goal. He brilliantly denied Sadio Mane in the first half and produced a stunning save to stop Mohamed Salah from scoring in the second half.

Carlo Ancelotti's team secure an impressive double this season, having also won the La Liga title.

Their remarkable run includes victories over Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester City and, of course, Liverpool.

It's their 14th European title and they are seven clear of their nearest rivals AC Milan.

As for Liverpool, they settle for two trophies this season following their quadruple pursuit.

Jurgen Klopp's side end the 2021/22 campaign with the EFL Cup and FA Cup.
