Real Madrid have been accused of disrespecting club legend Luka Modric after reportedly offering his shirt number to Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe, 23, had been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid before committing his long-term future to Paris Saint-Germain.
The France international signed a new three-year deal with the French champions on Saturday in a major blow to Madrid.
Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna claims Madrid had promised Mbappe the number 10 shirt at the Bernabeu, currently worn by Modric and previously owned by the likes of Ferenc Puskas, Luis Figo and Clarence Seedorf, in an effort to convince him to join.

Modric, 36, is out of contract at the end of the season but is expected to sign a new deal at the Spanish club.
And fans have reacted angrily to the news that he may have been forced to give up his shirt number to accommodate Mbappe.
"Crazy disrespect to one of the greatest players to ever play for Real," wrote one fan on Twitter.

He will earn a reported salary of £4m per month and is also set to receive a huge £100m signing-on bonus.
Reports have also claimed that PSG have promised to make Mbappe the 'owner' of the club's sporting project, giving him influence over transfer policy and even the power to change coaches at the Parc des Princes.
