The Ridiculous Reason Didier Drogba Refused To Play For Montreal Impact

He's not happy.

According to his coach Mauro Biello, former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba straight up refused to play for MLS side Montreal Impact last night in a surprisingly out-of-character move.

Drogba wasn't named in the starting XI for their clash with Toronto FC, with many suggesting that he was out because of a back injury.

It seems that wasn't the case.

It turns out Biello told the Ivorian that he would be on the bench for the game and planned to bring him on as a substitute, but Drogba was having none of it.

Biello said:

'Didier wasn't selected to start the game. 'I spoke with him yesterday and he didn't accept the fact to come off the bench and, in the end, he did not want to be in the 18.'

Even without their main tallysman, Montreal secured a play-off place after recording a respectable 2-2 draw against Toronto.

Biello went on to explain the Drogba situation in depth:

'He was capable of playing. You'd have to ask him that question [why he reacted the way he did].

'In the end, everybody works hard at training every day to be ready for selection. You're part of a team, and when you're selected or you're not selected, it's about being there for your team-mates.

'It's important that things are settled in the end one way or another and we move forward. That's the message.'

It doesn't sound like Mauro Biello is very happy with the former Chelsea striker and who can blame him.
