PSG set to face FFP fine over Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi wages

Mbappe, Messi and Neymar are amongst the highest paid players in the world so it's no wonder that PSG will be sanctioned by UEFA.

Paris Saint-Germain are set to be hit by a fine by UEFA over breaking FFP rules, and it could lead to a ban from the Champions League if it continues.

The French champions PSG aren't exactly known for holding back when it comes to spending money since their Qatari owners bought the club in 2011.

In their front three alone the club have Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, with the latter pair costing them over €400 million Euros between them.

Whilst their relationship is pretty frosty on the pitch at the moment, off the pitch the pair, along with Messi, are still costing them huge amounts every week on wages.

According to L'Equipe, those wages, along with the rest of the squad, is set to earn the Ligue 1 giants a fine from UEFA due to Financial Fair Play.

The French outlet claim that UEFA have informed the club, as well as Marseille, that they are over the FFP quota thanks to their wage bill and they will face sanctions.

The clubs can go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to try and appeal whatever punishment is handed down to them, which is likely to be the fine.

According to the report, the Parisiens believe that the findings from Europe's football governing body are 'unfair' and cite a few reasons.

The recent problem over television rights of Ligue 1, in 2020 the deal between the French league and Chinese company Mediapro, worth £3 billion, having to be cancelled just months in after a dispute over payment, is one reason.

They will also cite the fact that players in France have to pay higher taxes, meaning that clubs have to pay even higher gross wages in order to cancel it out.

PSG's famous front three are reportedly all the top three earners in world football right now, with Mbappe's new deal meaning he tops the lot.

The World Cup winner was originally expected to leave this summer, with his contract expiring, and join Real Madrid but he ended up changing his mind.

Mbappe doesn't seem to want Neymar as a strike partner any more, having reportedly been given more 'power' since signing his new deal at the Parc des Princes.

The two argued last weekend during the win over Montpellier, over the taking of the game's second penalty after the Frenchman missed the first.

According to reports, the issues continued after full time as well, with items even thrown in the dressing room and both men having to be separated.
