PSG boss denies claims of rift between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe

The two PSG forwards have seemed to have had problems this season but Christophe Galtier says things are fine between Mbappe and Neymar.

There's no issues between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, despite much evidence on the contrary, that's according to PSG boss Christophe Galtier.

Tension seems to have been rising at PSG this season between two of their insanely talented front three, with Lionel Messi just providing the pair with excellent assists.

At the end of last season Mbappe chose to stay in the French capital, instead of leaving for Real Madrid, and claims suggested that Neymar's departure, and more power in the club, were among the reasons he decided to stay.

The Brazilian was linked with Chelsea, but few other clubs, but with no offers, or at least not the right ones, forthcoming, there was no question about the former Barcelona star staying.

The start of the campaign didn't help things between the pair with an argument over who should be taking penalties, and Neymar 'stealing' one from his teammate.

That reportedly led to a dressing room argument in which the pair even had to be separated by teammates, after they butted heads.

Things between them had quietened down more recently, with the Ligue 1 champions in supreme form in the league and the pair, along with Messi, all in imperious form.

However, on Tuesday night, the Brazilian was fuming at his strike partner in the Champions League, as Mbappe failed to pass to him for what would have been an easy goal.

You'd be forgiven for thinking, after all that, that there was some sort of rift between the two most expensive football players of all time, but apparently you'd be wrong.

Ahead of Saturday afternoon's game with Brest, Galtier, who took over from Mauricio Pochettino in the summer, denied there were any problems between his players.

"The relationship between Ney and Kylian is very good, and I'm not giving you the runaround," the former Lille manager said in his press conference.

"They are together in the training exercises, they are often together in the warm-ups. Yes, there was that match situation. And I discussed it yesterday with Kylian, who I think, I think, has discussed it with Ney.

Asked about the incident in midweek, the 56-year-old added, "There are two seconds when you have to make a decision, and Kylian is concentrating on striking the ball.

"I am convinced that Kylian will make more decisive passes to Ney, as Ney is capable of making decisive passes to Kylian. But I haven't felt anything negative since the game in relation to this chance."

Mbappe's new role in the team, and contract has led to people wondering his he's got too much power and looking at his past behaviour.

The World Cup winner's decision to keep a penalty away from Angel di Maria in 2019, when the Argentina player was on a hat-trick, went viral recently, especially with the former Monaco man missing the spot kick.

None of the antics mattered on Saturday, as Messi played a perfect ball to set up Neymar for the only goal of the game for PSG and keep their unbeaten start to the season.
