Manchester United legend Jaap Stam has confirmed he'd return to the club in a coaching role if asked.
United have sped up their search for a new permanent manager in the international break with Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino the frontrunners according to reports.

It'll be a mammoth rebuilding job at Old Trafford and it's expected a new manager would bring in his own backroom staff.
Stam, who has been linked with a role if ten Hag takes the job, admits it's a proposition that interests him.
“If they would ask me (to take a coaching/managerial role), I would do it straight away without a doubt," the former Netherlands international told bettingexpert.

"You know United is my life as well. I’ve had great seasons over there, won trophies and it’s been very important for me. In any way, if I could help them out, I would be tempted to do it."
Stam spent three years at United between 1998 and 2001, helping them to treble glory in 1999.
The defender was sold to Lazio in 2001 and the decision to do so is something Sir Alex Ferguson calls the biggest mistake of his career.
Since retiring, Stam has had spells in management with Reading, Feyenoord and most recently, MLS outfit FC Cincinnati.

He continued: "I know they are probably not going to come and call me, but also in a different role, and that counts, I think, for every player who has played for United.
"I think everyone is very eager to help the club and hopefully, bring them to the absolute top level.
"Like I said, you never know, that would be interesting.

"It’s all about owners, it’s all about technical directors, it’s all about coaches that step in, who do they want as assistant coaches. That’s how it goes."
Ralf Rangnick is in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season and the decision on a new manager isn't 'imminent'.
United are out of the Champions League and FA Cup, meaning they'll go without a trophy for a fifth consecutive year.

It's their longest barren spell in over 40 years and there's a chance they miss out on next season's Champions League.
The Red Devils are sixth in the Premier League and four points behind Arsenal in fourth, with Mikel Arteta's men still having a game in hand.
United return to action on Saturday evening against Leicester City.
