Barcelona president Joan Laporta has today talked of his desire to bring Neymar back to Barcelona. The Brazilian has been regularly linked with a return to Camp Nou since his 2017 exit.
However, there’s a catch with this one. Due to Barça’s financial woes, Laporta has announced Neymar should “come for free.” It seems unlikely PSG would be willing to lose one of their star men for nothing.
Kylian Mbappé’s recently established control at PSG could also hinder any potential deal. Mbappé and Neymar hold a strong relationship on and off the field of play, and with Mbappé now possessing the authority to approve incomings and outgoings at the Paris club, he’d likely veto any such deal.

What does this mean for Barcelona? They’ll continue to search for options to bolster their attack. Tentative links with Erling Haaland were scuppered by the Norwegian’s move to Manchester City and the trail’s gone a bit cold regarding Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski, with Chelsea believed to be rivalling Barça’s interest in the Pole.
Barça will want to ensure they don’t fall any further behind La Liga champions Real Madrid this Summer as they continue to strengthen. Los Blancos have all but confirmed the signing of midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, and are said to be interested in acquiring the services of Raheem Sterling.
As for Neymar, his future lies in Paris now. It’s unlikely PSG will be willing to part ways with one of the pioneers of their project until they finally reach their goal of winning the Champions League.
