Newcastle United look set to complete their third transfer of the month after having a bid of €40 million (£33 million) accepted.
The Magpies have already snapped up Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood following their Saudi-backed takeover.
They remain in the market for new talent ahead of the second half of the season, with the club currently occupying a relegation spot.
Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard continues to be heavily linked with a move to St. James' Park with the January 31 deadline approaching.
But it appears Eddie Howe is close to securing his third signing of the month, with Lyon accepting the club's bid for Bruno Guimaraes.
That's according to Brazilian outlet Globo who claim the French side have accepted Newcastle's bid.
However, there has been no answer yet from the player who is expected to respond in the next few hours.
Guimaraes, 24, is also attracting interest from Serie A giants Juventus and fellow Premier League side Arsenal, who are both keeping tabs on the defensive midfielder.
The Brazilian international joined Lyon from Athletico Paranaense in January 2020 for a reported £17 million.
He's played 25 games in all competitions this season ahead of potentially switching sides.
Howe will be hoping a deal for Guimaraes crosses the line with his team sitting precariously in 18th place in the table.
But they're just one point behind Norwich and have a game in hand over their relegation rivals.
Will Guimaraes join the Newcastle revolution? Stay tuned.
