As the summer transfer window approaches, the 10 most valuable central defenders have been revealed.
To date, the highest fee paid for a centre-back remains the €87 million Manchester United forked out for Harry Maguire.
Ahead of this summer’s transfer window, a number of central defenders have been linked with big-money moves.

The likes of Joskol Gvardiol and Jurrien Timber have been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League.
Football Observatory CIES have now ranked the most valuable centre-backs in world football.
Kicking off the top 10 is Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes, who has a transfer value of €70.2 million. The Brazilian’s teammate, William Saliba came ninth with a value of €70.9 million.

In eighth place is Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate, who has been given a transfer value of €72 million after impressing at the Anfield club.
Konate’s former RB Leipzig teammate, Dayot Upamecano ranked seventh with €75.6 million.
Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck and Barcelona’s Ronaldo Araujo were sixth and fifth having been valued at €80.7 million and €81.9 million respectively.
Manchester City’s treble winner Ruben Dias just missed out on the top three as he was in fourth place with a transfer value of €84.4 million.

Kicking off the top three is highly-rated Benfica defender Antonio Silva. The Portuguese youngster is valued at €89.5 million.
Real Madrid star Eder Militao missed out on the top spot despite having a huge transfer value of €108.4 million. This is because RB Leipzig’s Gvardiol has been valued at an eye-watering €114.9 million.

Gvardiol has been heavily linked with a move to City as the summer transfer window edges ever closer.
It has been widely reported that Gvardiol could leave Leipzig for a fee of €100 million.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, City are in a better position than other clubs to land the highly-rated Croatian international.
