Sergio Aguero placed a bet on best friend Lionel Messi only to completely forget about it.
Aguero and Messi have been best pals ever since they roomed together in the Argentina youth ranks and the Manchester City legend has always had his back.
He passionately defended the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner in a spat with boxer Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez last year.

It came after a fake picture circulated of Messi cleaning the floor with a Mexico jersey in the World Cup, with Aguero putting the fighter in his place.
But prior to the World Cup, Aguero, who was forced to announce his retirement, bet $1,001 ((£823) on Messi winning the Golden Ball award at the showpiece.
He was clearly full of confidence in the Barcelona legend and collected a cool $8,264 (£6,800) thanks to the 8,25/1 bet placed with Stake.

Even though he's no longer playing, Aguero is inevitably still doing pretty well financially and this stake was removed from his memory with all the madness that ensued in the World Cup in Qatar.
"On November 17, I bet that the best player in the World Cup would be Messi and I just realized it," Aguero wrote on his Instagram story, accompanied by a screenshot of the slip.
Messi not only finally got his hands on the World Cup to well and truly complete football, but he was deservedly crowned Player of the tournament.

He scored seven times and assisted three in a stunning campaign, netting twice in a thrilling final against France - which ended in a penalty shoot-out triumph for La Albiceleste after a 3-3 draw.
Aguero hoisted Messi on his shoulders in an iconic picture afterwards, though he definitely didn't think about his tidy bet at the time.
More recently, a fan has placed a mammoth 450/1 bet on Messi leading Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup as well as winning the MLS Golden Boot.

@Bradm1nBets put £50.00 on the double and could be £22,550 richer if it comes in - though he's already been offered a £605 cash-out.
Messi is yet to make an appearance in the MLS but has seven goals in four games in the Leagues Cup competition, where the Herons are just three wins away from winning the whole thing.
