James Milner gave Virgil van Dijk an absolute earful following Manchester United's opener against Liverpool.

Jadon Sancho sat down Milner with a sublime piece of skill before slotting home to open the scoring at Old Trafford.

The camera then panned to Milner who was absolutely fuming at Van Dijk's positioning for the goal.

Needless to say, the clash between Milner and Van Dijk got fans talking online.

One tweeted: "Milner giving Van Dijk pelters is fair there. His refusal to commit towards opposition players is getting more prominent. A second wrote: "The nerve of Milner to scold Van Dijk when he got fake shotted by Sancho."

A third added: "James Milner so angry with Van Dijk and rightly so!!"

Micah Richards also questioned Van Dijk's defending for Sancho's strike.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport, he said: "Van Dijk is just stood with his arms behind his back. He literally stands there.

"Such strange defending."
